RECYCLING

Recovery and recycling of steel are profitable and economic activities that have long existed, practised by the "scrap" industry, which generates income by selling the steel and non-ferrous metals recovered.. Implementation of new directives will result in extra costs owing to the obligation to send to waste dumps only the "ultimate waste" and hence the need to valorise all the materials forming part of consumer goods.. Today, it is estimated that 70% of the steel of consumer goods that have reached the end of their service lives is effectively recovered in the industrial countries. Recycling of steel remains a strong strategic policy for the producer, who develops and ensures the link between the different entities involved in the steelmaking and transformation industry, the industrial crushing units and the local authorities.
